Make-up artist, Jo Strettell has been working in the fashion industry for the past 25 years. Her art school background made her want to bring painting to life. She began her career in London, followed by a move to New York and then she traveled to Paris. In Paris, she created make-up looks at the Paris fashion shows for influential designers Helmut Lang and Francoi Girbaud. After returning to the United States and living bi-coastally between New York and Los Angles, Jo attained great success with premiere fashion magazines and photographers such as Helmut Newton, Herb Ritts, Paolo Roversi, Arthur Elgort, Steven Meisel, Robert Erdmann, Dewey Nicks and Mario Testino.
In 1966, Televista, the largest television station in the world contracted Jo to lend her talent to seminars based on her “making women beautiful naturally” technique. This paved the way for Jo’s involvement in the film industry where she works closely with influential celebrities and musical performers. She has worked on videos for Mya, Sade, Madonna, No Doubt, Avril Lavigne and Dido.
Jo’s impeccable eye for beauty and precise make-up application has earned her a loyal clientele list that includes: Demi Moore, Rashida Jones, Diane Lane, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Teri Hatcher and Uma Thurman to name a few. She has been hired to work on beauty campaigns for Neutrogena, L’Oreal, Christian Dior, Estee Lauder, Pantene and Oil of Olay. They depend on the flawlessly clean looks Jo is known to create. Her work has graced the covers of Vogue, Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair. Jo is continually relied upon Allure and InStyle for their legendary beauty advice columns. Her fabulous on-set personality and perfected technique have become her trademarks, making her one of the most highly sought after make-up artists in the business.
